Super Easy Five Minute Fresh Faced Makeup Routine
Updated: Apr 11, 2018
I am the kind of person who will opt for an extra ten minutes in bed over taking that precious time to get ready in the morning.
We are talking a standard work morning. Other mornings I may want to/have to get up and put a little extra effort into my morning routine, so after about five alarms and a cup of tea I will happily create whatever makeup look I feel like.
I am someone who loves a natural makeup look in the day time - whatever the day or situation, I always want to look fresh and natural. So in the evening or for any special occasion when I do my makeup slightly heavier, people notice and comment. It’s always a nice feeling to know people can tell you’ve made more of an effort and it can really give you a boost. Another reason for wanting to look more natural in the day time is so that if I ever decide to leave my house with no makeup on due to being ill, going to a workout class or in all honesty feeling a little rough thanks to a fantastic evening filled with red wine the night before, then people don’t feel as shocked when seeing me bare faced as they would if they were used to seeing me with a full face of makeup at all times.
Whilst I love doing makeup on others daily and have chosen it as my job, when coming to my own face, most of the time I just want to be ready as quickly as possible so I can enjoy the day ahead.
So there we are, all of my reasons as to why I want the easiest makeup routine on most standard working mornings. But how do I achieve this and still get told by people that I look fresh and flawless? (Unless they are all constantly lying to me).
I always love to apply Illamasqua skin base foundation. My shade is 06 - it’s very fair and truly a perfect colour match for my natural skin tone. This is my favourite foundation by far. I use it on my clients too as it suits all skin types and ages and if you go online you will see for yourself how many shades they have. I can guarantee you will get your perfect colour match with this brand!
I apply the Illamasqua skin base foundation with a beauty blender (makeup blender). This is a great way to get the foundation so flawlessly onto the skin. I don’t use blenders on clients as I personally don’t feel they are hygienic enough even after washing (this is not a fact, just my own personal opinion) but they brilliant for your own personal use.
I then set the foundation with a translucent powder. Any translucent powder should be fine though you often find the cheaper ones contain cheaper ingredients that can clog your pores and cause spots. I am currently using Kryolan translucent powder which also adds an airbrushed look to the skin.
I then use the Dior addict blusher and apply it to the apples of my cheeks. The reason for this is to create a more natural and healthy blush. People often can’t tell I have makeup on when I do this. I always blend the blush out with a clean blending brush (any kind will do) so that I never have any obvious lines.
If my brows have been tinted I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel to put them into place. If they look almost non existent like they do currently and are in desperate need of a tint, I use the Mii cosmetics sculpting brow builder (it’s basically a coloured mascara for your brows) and this gives them a little more depth.
In my super easy five minute fresh faced makeup routine, I don’t normally use any makeup on my eyes. I am lucky to have dark eyelashes, so don’t always feel the need to use anything. Some days I do add black mascara and sometimes if I have a little extra time I’ll add a top line with the Kat Von D black tattoo liner.
If you have really fair lashes and wouldn’t ever want to leave the house without anything on your eyes but like the sound of this very easy routine, consider trying out an eyelash tint. It makes such a difference to those with fair lashes.
So that’s it. Foundation. Powder. Blusher. Brow mascara/gel. Super quick and easy for creating a fresh face in five minutes.
